Product Description

Level Switch - RF Admittance for High Temperature applications

Our RF level switch is widely applied in various products such as Building industry materials, cement, sand, lime, milk powder, flour, salt, food grains, powder, granular, chemical and mining etc. These comprise of a specially designed electronics and sensing probe using Driven Shield Coat Guard circuit and corresponding 3-Element Probe.

The electro-mechanical combination of the Coat Guard technique is there makes the system immune to the material build-up on the probe and material bridging between the probe and the hopper wall. The measured signal does not flow to the hopper wall through the probe in the backward direction but flows only through the material.
The salient features of this level measuring instrument are as follow:

Three Element Coat Guard Technology

  • Can be configured either for High or Low Level point switching
  • Reduces the Inventory cost
  • Ignores material build-up on the probe
  • Suitable for the highly dusty environment
  • High Reliability
  • Fast and Easy Installation Simple Calibration
  • Field selectable operation logic
  • Provides economical solutions
  • Various models not required

The specifications of these point level switch are as follow: Switching Unit:

  • Shield: Stainless steel
  • Insulation: PTFE (standard) other on request and as per application.
  • Operating Temp in: 100 deg for the integral switching vessel unit.225C for remote switching unit

The Principle of Working:

The major shortcoming of the conventional method is that after the level has once increased and then decreased, there may be a coating left on the probe sensed by the instrument as though the level is still on the probe. In our switch, a coat guard amplifier is incorporated in the circuit having its output exactly at the same voltage and phase at all times as its input.

The output is connected through the shield of the low capacitance co-axial cable to the concentric tube on the sense probe, called shield element. There is no current flow through the cable as both the elements, sense and shield are exactly at the same potential and phase at all times.

This results in no change in calibration due to coating on the probe and the temperature effect of the cable. This makes it possible to increase or shorten the cable connecting the switching unit without changing the original calibration.

Advanced Technology for Accurate Level Detection

Utilizing RF Admittance technology, this level switch delivers precise and consistent measurement in tanks or vessels containing bulk solids, liquids, or materials with challenging characteristics. The instruments reliability in high temperatures and tough process media ensures minimum maintenance and maximum uptime, making it the ideal choice for critical industrial sectors.

Robust Design for Extreme Environments

Constructed with an aluminium die-cast or stainless steel enclosure, this switch is designed to withstand harsh industrial conditions. The IP65/IP67 protection rating safeguards the internal electronics, while flameproof materials and high insulation resistance contribute to operational safety and long service life.

FAQs of Level Switch - RF Admittance for High Temperature applications:

Q: How does the RF Admittance Level Switch function in high-temperature applications?

A: The RF Admittance Level Switch works by measuring the admittance (AC conductance) between the probe and vessel wall, maintaining accuracy even at elevated temperatures up to 450C. Its probe can be customized as a rod or cable, ensuring proper measurement across various processes and materials, including solids, liquids, and sticky substances.

Q: What types of materials can the RF Admittance Level Switch detect?

A: This device is suitable for detecting the level of a wide range of materials such as powders, granular solids, viscous fluids, sticky mixtures, and conductive or non-conductive liquids. Its design makes it highly adaptable for challenging process media commonly found in industries like chemicals, food processing, and power generation.

Q: Where can I install this level switch, and what are the mounting options?

A: The level switch can be installed in dry or wet silos, tanks, hoppers, and process vessels. Its mounting type is flexible, offering threaded (1" BSP standard, others on demand) and flanged options to accommodate various installation needs across industries.

Q: What is the process for configuring the fail-safe mode?

A: The fail-safe mode can be field-selected for either high or low-level fail conditions. This adaptability allows you to set the switch to trigger alarms or system responses according to your safety protocols, enhancing operational reliability.

Q: When should the LED alarm indication be used?

A: The integrated LED indication on the enclosure activates whenever the relay output status changes, providing immediate visual feedback of the alarm or switch state. This feature is particularly useful for on-site personnel to quickly identify high or low-level events without additional instrumentation.

Q: What are the benefits of using this switch compared to other level-sensing technologies?

A: The RF Admittance Level Switch offers several advantages, including high reliability in extreme temperatures, resistance to coating or bridging by sticky materials, a rapid response time of less than one second, and low maintenance due to its solid-state design. Its CE certification and robust enclosure further assure safety and longevity.
